Rolf Brüggemann appointed new Head Retail Banking and Capital Markets

BaselJanuary 05, 2016  Rolf Brüggemann (age 54) has been appointed Member of the Executive Board and Head Retail Banking and Capital Markets of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA), effective February 2016. He will succeed Mark-Oliver Baumgarten.

Rolf Brüggemann is an Attorney-at-law and received a Master of Laws in European Legal Studies (LL.M.) from the University of Exeter (UK). Before joining the Swiss Bankers Association, he served for five years as a member of the Executive Board of the Financial Market Authority of Liechtenstein, where he gained extensive experience in EU financial market legislation. Prior to this, Rolf Brüggemann held various management roles in the legal and compliance departments of the two big Swiss banks for a total of almost 20 years. Claude-Alain Margelisch, Chief Executive Officer of the SBA, is very pleased about the appointment: “Not only is Rolf Brüggemann an accomplished attorney, but in particular, he also brings many years of practical banking experience to this challenging leadership role. We are convinced that with his knowledge and experience, Rolf Brüggemann will make an important contribution to the further development of the Swiss financial centre.”
