A seasoned journalist and podcast presenter, she has a gift for making complex topics more approachable. She treats all her guests equally, regardless of their function or status. Blessed with a natural curiosity, she can coax a CEO into talking just as easily as an apprentice. This allows her to bring different perspectives together and give her audience a fascinating insight into the world of banking.
What motivated you to present our “The River” podcast?
I’ve been reporting on the Swiss financial sector for a long time, so I find talking about its fast-moving development from the perspectives of regulation, technology and competition extremely exciting. The podcast’s a cool format that gives us space for a deep dive.
How do you prepare for each new episode?
I’m in regular contact with the Swiss Banking team. I get a brief summary of the topic and guests for each episode. On top of this, I do some research of my own and then have a preparatory chat with all the guests to get a feel for who I’m going to be talking to. The most important thing is for me to remain flexible, spontaneous and curious during the podcast itself!
What do you think makes a good podcast discussion?
Achieving a certain intimacy that other formats like TV and print interviews can’t replicate, which allows us to dig deeper into the context and the person.
Which episode have enjoyed the most and why?
The one that featured a “finfluencer”. I learned a lot from that one myself, like how the younger generation invests, how they think about money and finance and whether we still need banks (the answer’s yes, by the way).
Who would you really love to have as a guest on “The River” and why?
Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter. No explanation needed!
What does “staying in the flow” mean to you?
Not treating my work as work but enjoying the discussion, the research and the analysis and keeping my finger on the pulse.
