The SBA supports targeted reforms but firmly rejects FINMA as a ‘super-authority’

The Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) welcomes the Federal Council’s decision to address key lessons from the Credit Suisse crisis through its two additional consultations on banking stability. The SBA supports targeted improvements to the liquidity supply and the resolvability of systemically important banks. It acknowledges the Federal Council’s efforts to ensure a proportionate approach. The SBA also warns against FINMA becoming a ‘super-authority’, particularly with regard to its vastly expanded powers concerning early intervention, sanctions and the ability to intervene in normal business operations. The SBA will now analyse the proposals in greater depth.

More than digital money: how tokenisation is changing financial markets

The discourse on tokenisation has entered a new phase. Whereas the focus was mainly on digital means of payment in recent years, the tokenisation of assets is increasingly coming to the fore. This year’s Point Zero Forum in Zurich showed that the importance of distributed ledger technology (DLT) extends far beyond payments and has the potential to bring about a structural transformation of financial markets.
